Ohhhhh my goshhhhh – I am so excited! I am finally taking the plunge folks – We are in the early stages of rebranding the business. My emotions are all over the place – I am excited, scared, nervous, anxious and everything in between. Branding is so hard – some people are rockstars at branding. They know exactly who they are and what they want their businesses to represent and it comes naturally to them.
Me on the other hand…it is hard. I know that I want my business to represent wholesome, classic, timeless pictures with a simplistic style!!! Now try putting that into your branding – how??? I had to dig deep and think about who I am as a person. I have given this a lot of thought over the last couple of months and have really prayed about it. I want my photography to capture the true essence of who I am. I grew up in Maine, surrounded by hunting, fishing, cold nights and warm blankets. I love hot cocoa in a steaming cup, I love sitting on the porch wrapped in a cable knit sweater and my L.L. Bean slippers and I love a good home cooked meal – meat and potatoes baby.
It was also very important to me to have a Brand/Logo that spoke to more than 1 genre of photography. I photograph Weddings, High School Seniors and Families – so I needed a brand that reflected each of those areas.
When I hired Katie to rebrand my business, I knew I had to convey the very thing I described above and while I can say what I like, actually putting those words into a logo and branding board are a lot harder. I hit the ground running on Pinterest and started pinning everything that spoke to me. Now, I am not a girly girl! I don’t wear pink, I don’t wear ribbons in my hair and I am not a stiletto and dress kind of girl. I love the color red, old barn walls and rustic features – I would say I am a mix between a little country and a little bit hick – but refined hickNot quite a redneck – HAHA!
So, without boring you further, here is step 1 in my branding process – my inspiration board. Katie took my plethora of pins on Pinterest and narrowed them down to a more manageable number and she did a fantastic job. I have my red, my hot chocolate, my cable knit blanket and all the rustic features I could ask for. I am so excited to see where this process takes us and what we end up with.
